Water Filtration / Conditioning Systems

Water Filtration & Conditioning Systems

What is the difference between a water softener and water filtration/conditioning? While water softeners target issues like spots on dishes and buildup on appliances, water filters/conditioners aim to supply better-tasting, cleaner water by removing a wider array of contaminants such as heavy metals.

Reverse osmosis (RO) systems

Reverse osmosis (RO) systems are water filtration devices that use pressure to force water through a semi-permeable membrane to remove contaminants. RO systems can remove up to 99% of dissolved particles, bacteria, and pathogens from water. This can reduce the presence of harmful contaminants and the risks associated with them. RO systems conveniently fit under your sink.

Maintenance:

Replace all filters every 6-12 months depending on the condition of your water and sanitize the system annually, or at least once each time you change filters.

Multi media systems

A multi-media filtration system is a pressure filter vessel that uses multiple layers of media to remove suspended particles, like dirt and rust, as well as other debris from water. These particles and debris can damage plumbing, harm boilers, and foul membranes.

Maintenance:

The inside of the filter system needs to be cleaned regularly and depending on the amount of sediment in the area, you may need to replace the top 2–5 inches of filter media every 3–5 years. You should also replace media if the edges start to round out and lose their jagged shape.
